Are nosebleeds serious ailments?

Almost every time that a person has to go through the experience of a nosebleed, the entire situation is very dramatic and always looks dangerous and frightening. Fortunately for us, nosebleeds are not always as dangerous and serious as they look and usually they can easily be controlled at home. However, sometimes the nosebleeds do occur because of some serious reasons and will need proper medical help.

The most common causes for a nosebleed to occur is because of a direct injury to the nose, for instance a blow to the nose from the outside can cause the nose to suddenly start bleeding. Or even sometimes, internally also the nose is irritated such as due to the picking of nose or an injury of sorts that can cause a nosebleed. However, these kinds of nosebleeds though might look very scary actually need to be treated as any other external wound would have been treated in your home.

However, nosebleeds just occurring without any external or internal visible trauma having been caused to it will obviously have some other reasons behind them which will require some looking into and most times also some serious medical help as per what the results of the check-ups say. For instance, such nosebleeds are often the result of the inability of the blood in the body as a whole to clot. This is caused by the probable thinning of the blood that might have occurred as side effects to some medication that you might have been taking such as aspirin etc. Sometimes, liver related diseases also cause nosebleeds because of the same reason of the inability of the blood to clot. Both these situations will need medical attention and you can take the nosebleeds as a sign.

Also, there may be a direct relation of the nosebleeds to your nose as when there might be a nasal cancer that might have formed inside the nose. Sometimes even the bursting of a blood vessel or even the presence of an abnormal blood vessel inside your nose can cause the nosebleeds to occur. Very rarely even high blood pressure causes nosebleeds although this is not a very common cause for the nose to start bleeding.

Whatever the cause of the nosebleeds, if you are not sure of the reason why your nose is bleeding such as an injury to your nose directly from the inside or from the outside, then it is always safer to get yourself checked to see if the reason for the nosebleeds is something more serious or not.

Prevention is much easier than dehydration cure

You might be a happy parent to know that your child is active and loves playing outside, especially during the summer. However, your child may not know this but their ability to adjust to the heat outside is very different from our own. Children actually produce more body heat when they exert energy and sweat much less than an adult would and that becomes the main reason why so many active children suffer from dehydration. Here are some useful tips to keep in mind so that you can prevent dehydration in your child.

The physical condition of your child for example is very important in the way that they will adjust to the heat outside. Especially if your child is over weight or has not been physically very active over the past few years then his or her suddenly being exposed to a lot of outdoor activity and exercises will immediately lead to dehydration. So what you must do is encourage such a child to start their games or exercises slowly and in less degree for a few days till they start accommodating their body with the heat outside. Also, always find a cooler and shadier place where such a child can first start playing or exercising.

Not only that, but you should also help their bodies get more used to the heat outside by encouraging them to drink as much water or healthy energy drinks as they can. By slowly being introduced to the heat outside their body will also learn to sweat and thus get rid of the heat as their blood volume also increases. According to research, children must have a good dose of drinking something healthy as water or juice or an energy drink right before they go for their exercise or go to play. Also after they start playing, every twenty minutes they should be interrupted and forced to drink even if they are not thirsty as it will be helping them keep their body as hydrated as possible.

Also most importantly, you should also be aware of the weather conditions outdoors so that you can confidently allow your child to go play vigorously. The weather conditions that is actually worst where it comes to dehydration is when there is a lot of humidity in the air and when the temperatures are at the highest. So, you must also avoid those times of the day when the weather conditions are at their hottest. In fact, always try to encourage your child’s outdoor activities early mornings if possible or at least in the evening. By keeping all these tips in mind, you will be able to make sure that your child doesn’t suffer a dangerous attack of dehydration
